Sharing and Protecting BC’s Water
Water is crucial to all life. It is the fundamental link between human societies and our environment. A changing climate is going to make protecting water and managing its use more important and more challenging at the same time. Government has promised to "modernize" BC's antiquated Water Act, providing a major opportunity to build the foundation of a more resilient system. It is essential that a new Water Act provide adequate flows to maintain healthy ecosystems, protect groundwater and regulate its use for all sectors, increase public participation in an improved water governance system, and emphasize uses of water that better reflect social and environmental priorities.
